Fact du jour — First St. Patrick’s Day in Canada

On March 17, 1765, the first St. Patrick’s Day on record in Canada was celebrated by Irish troops serving in the British army in Quebec City.

In Montreal, St. Patrick’s Day has been celebrated as far back as 1759 by Irish soldiers of the Montreal Garrison.
