Today in Quebec history

March 15, 1603 – On his first major voyage to Canada, Samuel de Champlain leaves Honfleur, France with fur trader Pont-Gravé and Pierre de Monts on Aymar de Chaste’s ship, Bonne Renommé. He would survey the region with a view to future settlement and spend the winter at Tadoussac. On his return, he published an account of his voyage, Des Sauvages.
