Savoir faire — Learning about Irish genealogy research

There are plenty of free webinars to learn about Irish genealogy research without the need to put on make-up and leave the house. Several are available for an indefinite period of time, but the first one listed below is only available for free for a week.

Legacy Family Tree offers a free webinar on Wednesday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, with accredited genealogist Judith Eccles Wight. In her presentation, Some Lesser Known Irish Resources, Ms. Wight will talk about Irish school records, taxation sources, and court records. Register here. The archived webinar will be available for free for about seven days.

Learn from professional genealogist, lecturer and author Kyle J. Betit during his one-hour presentation, Tracing Your Irish Ancestors Back to the Homeland. Discover key record collections on Ancestry and back in Ireland, plus learn to tell your Murphy and O’Brien ancestors from the ones down the block.

The FamilySearch Learning Center provides eight videos to help you learn about Irish genealogy, from getting started to census substitutes.
